Buy the Horrotica Magazine Anthology (Vol.1) today!

Posted in News on October 31, 2012 by Christian

Celebrate Halloween by ordering your copy of HORROTICA MAGAZINE’S first ever print anthology, which includes my short story, “Ethyl’s Alcohol”, originally published online by HORROTICA MAGAZINE in June 2011.

This anthology is not for the faint-of-heart. It features “eleven stories of graphic, raw, jaw-dropping, and mind-bending horrific erotica.”

  • “He Waits” by Andrea Dean Van Scoyoc
  • “Shining Within” by Anthony Anderson
  • “Face Scream” by Ash Scott-Lockyer
  • “Ethyl’s Alcohol” by Christian A. Larsen
  • “Man/eater” by Dany Sirene
  • “Thirst of a Thousand” by Garth von Buchholz
  • “A Little Death” by Harry Mora
  • “A Sheep Among Wolves” by Hydra M. Star
  • “Glory Unholy” by Joshua Dobson
  • “Heart of Stone” by Sara Saint John
  • “Dark Wanting”  by Sherri Kirbis

But before you read, heed this warning from Editor Terry D. Scheerer: “Without doubt these stories will tear aside the veil which has previously shaded any erotica with a horror-based theme. Join us on this incredible journey into the darkest side of erotica, although only a few of our travelers’ manage to survive the trip.”

Prepare to be surprised, and terrified.

Knightmist reviews NOW I LAY ME DOWN TO REAP

Posted in Book Reviews on October 25, 2012 by Christian

Shawn Micallef of Knightmist’s Reviews, Life and Fiction has reviewed NOW I LAY ME DOWN TO REAP, which features my short story, “Fugue State”:

NOW I LAY ME DOWN TO REAP, now available in eBook and paperback.

Originally this saying was used for farmers and the importance of using good seed and taking care of your crops. Be a good farmer to the land, and the crops, and they will return a bounty to you. It’s now used more to tell of the importance of being a good person, and to do good deeds. If you do not then the circumstances of those poor deeds can be dire. The saying I’m referring to is, “You reap what you sow.”

Siren’s Call Publications to the writings of twelve great authors and gave them the opportunity to write stories showing what would happen if you “sowed bad seeds.” The anthology is aptly titled, Now I Lay Me Down to Reap, and tells the stories of hapless individuals who find out those actions have consequences.

The stories found within the anthology cover several different topics, but all have a dark side to them. Some of the stories have creatures you would not think to find within these pages, like unicorns, angels and fairies. There are other stories involving writers, farmers, a grim reaper and grave robbers.

What makes this anthology unique is…

Hazardous Press to publish “Skin of Blue and Grey”

Posted in News on October 23, 2012 by Christian

LOOSE ENDS by Jay Wilburn now available in paperback from Hazardous Press.

My short story, “Skin of Blue and Grey,” has been accepted by Hazardous Press for their upcoming HORRIFIC HISTORY anthology. Editor Robert Helmbrecht describes it as “a disturbing Civil War story of a soldier who comes home unexpectedly.” Very unexpectedly.

HORRIFIC HISTORY, which also includes contributions from Jay Wilburn and T. Fox Dunham, will showcase tales that show us the true horrific story behind historical events, like zombies in the Civil War, vampires in Renaissance Italy, shapeshifters in the ancient Far East, and aliens, demons, and spirits throughout history.

Hazardous Press is also the publisher of Wilburn’s debut novel LOOSE ENDS, which I reviewed here. Other titles in the Hazardous portfolio include:

  • OCTOBER RAIN by Dylan J. Morgan
  • A QUICK BITE OF FLESH: AN ANTHOLOGY OF ZOMBIE FLASH FICTION
  • MORTALS ALL by Bruce Golden
  • THE EVER by Hollis Jay
  • NIGHTSCAPES by Erik VanBezooijen
  • AN AIRSHIP NAMED DESIRE by Katherine McIntyre
  • HIS OWN MAD DEMONS by David A. Riley

Watch for HORRIFIC HISTORY in paperback and eBook formats in 2013.

Much sooner than expected … CHIRAL MAD!

Posted in News on October 11, 2012 by Christian

Some authors will be at AnthoCon next month to sign CHIRAL MAD.

CHIRAL MAD is now available in paperback, a month before its anticipated release at AnthoCon in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. The psychological horror anthology features 28 short stories, including my own “Mirror Moments.” Other contributors include Gord Rollo, Gene O’Neill, and Jack Ketchum, whom Stephen King calls “the scariest guy in America.”

All profits from the sale of CHIRAL MAD will go toward Down syndrome charities, so its fitting the anthology is released during Down Syndrome Awareness Month. You can pick up a paperback copy for just $15 at Amazon.com. Electronic copies will follow, but nothing beats ink-and-paper, especially if you want it signed. Several contributors will be attending AnthoCon next month to promote the book’s release, so if you live in New England, be sure to attend. Just don’t have them sign your Kindle.

CHIRAL MAD … it’s getting close!

Posted in News on October 9, 2012 by Christian

Written Backwards has announced that four-time Bram Stoker Award™-winner Thomas F. Monteleone has provided an introduction for CHIRAL MAD called “Fun With Your New Asymmetric Head.”  The anthology will feature 28 short stories, including my own “Mirror Moments.”

Monteleone, who has published more than 100 short stories in numerous magazines and anthologies, has written for the stage and television, having scripts produced for AMERICAN PLAYHOUSE, George A. Romero’s TALES FROM THE DARKSIDE, and the Fox network’s NIGHT VISIONS. He has had nothing but nice things to say about CHIRAL MAD, and calls the anthology “collectively compelling” and “brilliant.”

Initial promotion is underway, having begun last month at KillerCon in Las Vegas, where editor Michael Bailey and the following contributors had a lot of fun hanging out (as you can see for yourself in the picture below): Jack Ketchum, Gene O’Neill, Gord Rollo, Aaron J. French, Monica J. O’Rourke, Eric J. Guignard, P. Gardner Goldsmith, and John Palisano.

Eric J. Guignard, Gene O’Neill, P. Gardner Goldsmith, Michael Bailey, Jack Ketchum and Aaron J. French at KillerCon.

Next month at AnthoCon in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, Bailey will be on hand with Gary Braunbeck, Jon Michael Kelley, Patrick Lacey, Meghan Arcuri, as well as several contributors from KillerCon. There will be a reading/signing event scheduled for the official release of CHIRAL MAD, and complimentary copies will be handed out to the first 50 to check in. In addition, Bailey will be returning to the “Importance of Art in Fiction” panel again this year, so you’ll probably be seeing the oversized, autographed print of the cover there, too.

Poster size cover for CHIRAL MAD. My signature is not yet written on it. When it is, should it be written backwards?
