What are ghosts if not creatures existing with one foot in two different dimensions? What happens when our counterpart, our exact double, from another dimension wants something of ours that they’ve lost? In the short “The Place Where You Live“, written and directed by Alexis Van Hurkman, the latter question is asked and answered.

Nina Ashton (Dawn Krosnowski), a professor of physics, is confronted by her own theories when she’s abducted by her counterpart from an alternate dimension — in which her husband (John Bruce) has died.

Replaced by her doppelgänger, Nina struggles to rebuild the machine which will reopen the gateway between worlds, in order to regain the life that should be hers.

“The Place Where You Live” screens today during the Chicago Paranormal Film Festival at Schurz High School. Doors open at 9:30, and the last film begins screening at 5:10.

Admission is just $10 at the door, or you can donate a new, unwrapped toy or two non-perishable food items for free admission. Come visit the vendor room, where I’ll be signing copies of the anthologies FOR WHEN THE VEIL DROPS and SO IT GOES, and my novel, LOSING TOUCH.

Christian A. Larsen is the author of LOSING TOUCH, featuring a foreword by New York Times bestselling author Piers Anthony, now available in paperback and ebook formats from Post Mortem Press.
