SHRIEKS & SHIVERS features “well-crafted horror to satisfy every imagination”
The positive reviews are starting to pile up for SHRIEKS AND SHIVERS, the new anthology from The Horror Zine and Post Mortem Press, which features my own “Center Stage Sideshow”. C. Vale’s five-star review says:
If you stopped me on the street and asked me which is my favorite story from the SHRIEKS AND SHIVERS anthology, Jason V. Brock‘s shocking “Transposition” may “pop” in to my head.
Or I could say that my favorite is Elizabeth Massie‘s “Squatters” where the ignorant and hypocritical meet with brutal consequences. Or it could be Shaun Meeks‘ pulpy “Stash House,” which read a little like a scene from a film noir screenplay (with more than a splash of gruesome horror added). Or the works of Waggoner or Rose or Mason or Piccirilli may have topped my list. The stories are as unique as the people behind them (appreciated the bios and links to author blogs, etc.) and each satisfies a different craving. All of them were swallowed with enjoyment and discomfort in equal measure.
My two favorites today are “Center Stage Side Show” and “One Last Tweet.”
Christian A. Larsen’s “Center Stage Side Show” is told from the border between innocence and sexual awakening. It transports readers back to a time in their own lives when they, in their youth, screwed up the courage to glance behind the curtain and take a peek at the bigger, scarier world previously beyond their reach – and what a nasty world they find here! Mr. Larsen’s old timey yarn leaves an indelible (and sticky) impression…
