Mighty Con has arrived in Milwaukee!
Watcha doin’ today? It’s not Super Bowl Sunday. It’s not Valentine’s Day. It’s not even a President’s birthday. Any president’s birthday. It’s just a Sunday in February with nothing special to do … unless you’re into comics, books, video games, pop art and collectibles … and then there’s Mighty Con in Milwaukee.
Philo Barnhart will be there. Don’t know Philo Barnhart? You know his work. He’s animated such Disney classics as THE LITTLE MERMAID, THE SECRET OF NIMH, and BEAUTY AND THE BEAST. He’ll be selling original art prints and signing autographs. Maybe catch an “insider” story or two while you’re there.
If you love Svengoolie or Elvira, you’ll love Dr. Destruction. Since 2001, the Doc has been hosting CRIMSON THEATER in southeast Wisconsin, showcasing such horror stars as Bela Lugosi, Boris Karloff, Vincent Price, Peter Lorre, and many, many more. If you’re a horror fan, come by and say hello to Dr. Destruction!
And of course, I’ll be signing copies of my brand new ghosts and gangsters novel, THE BLACKENING OF FLESH, my debut novel, LOSING TOUCH, about a suburban man who finds he can walk through walls, the anthology QUALIA NOUS, which features a story of mine (and one of Stephen King’s), and many, many more.
It’s just $5 to get in (kids 12 and under are free) and it’s easy to find. Mighty Con happens today at American Serb Hall, 5101 West Oklahoma Ave in Milwaukee from 10:30 to 4:30. Every attendee gets a free comic at the door, and then … you get inside.
Voice actors, comic artists, gamer stuff, collectibles, handmade jewelry and costuming, purveyors of gold and silver age comics–I mean, if you’ve got something better going on today, I want to hear about it.
