Last day in London for LT & TBOF

Posted in Observations & Musings on July 8, 2016 by Christian

That’s a wrap, at least for the London leg of the LOSING TOUCH and THE BLACKENING OF FLESH book tour, which I am not a part of–but my books are. And there they are yukking it up overseas, practically rubbing it in my face.

Seems like an appropriate lane.

Q: Do you have Prince Albert in a can? A: No, sir. He’s been dead since 1861.

Tomorrow, it’s on to Paris, where they love Prince Albert jokes, but only if they’re told by Jerry Lewis.

Big Ben, bridges, and books

Posted in Observations & Musings on July 7, 2016 by Christian

Most authors I know worry about people pirating their books. Like, ebooks. But someone tried to steal LOSING TOUCH yesterday right on the streets of London. In broad daylight. In front of God and everybody. He was also going for a cellphone, but got away with neither.

Bollox, I say! Bollox, indeed! Still, it was a small price to pay for these sights:

BigBen

Big Ben, a.k.a. “Old Clocky”

LondonBridge

Look, it’s some bridge … and it’s staying up!

guardhouse

A laconic bunch, these guys.

victoriamemorial

Nothing like fanning yourself with books at the Victoria Memorial.

SherlockPub

Whatever you do, don’t ask for a shot of seven percent solution.

westminsterabbey

The Great Sept of Baelor.

That’s a whole lotta of sightseein’, boy howdy. And there’s more to come. Who knows what kind of adventures LOSING TOUCH and THE BLACKENING OF FLESH might get into next?  I just hope they hang onto their cellphones.

THE BLACKENING OF FLESH and LOSING TOUCH visit London

Posted in Observations & Musings on July 6, 2016 by Christian

My “book tour” continues in London. As in, THE BLACKENING OF FLESH and LOSING TOUCH are in London seeing the sights while I am definitely not with them. Here they are divining their bearer to a parade:

And here they are encountering some kind of TARDIS:

Like books, it's bigger on the inside.

It’s bigger on the inside. Books are, too.

More pics to come from … somewhere. I don’t know the itinerary, and I don’t want to know. I’m just along for the ride. Sort of.

Happy Creative Differences Day! Which is what I assume they call it in Great Britain.

My books are celebrating America’s Independence from Great Britain … in Great Britain, where I’m pretty sure they call it “Creative Differences Day” like how in the States we call Guy Fawkes Day “November 5th”. And hey, speaking of…

The birthplace of November 5th!

After spending yesterday in Whitby (the setting for the second act of Bram Stoker’s DRACULA), THE BLACKENING OF FLESH and LOSING TOUCH took a tour of (Old) York, catching the sights:

I suspect they wouldn’t let the books inside.

What time is it?

So who’s the docent on this tour? Perhaps the finest photojournalists the United States have to offer in Ryan and Tanille Smith. Here’s Ryan, fitting in on the Fourth:

I suspect the fireworks tonight will be subdued over there. Tomorrow, it’s off to London…

Follow THE BLACKENING OF FLESH and LOSING TOUCH

I’m staying put, but my books managed to hitch a ride across the pond for a bit of a holiday. That’s THE BLACKENING OF FLESH and LOSING TOUCH about to order a cocktail or three.

So begins an odyssey. Grab a paperback or two. It’s gonna be a bit of a trip.
