2017 Lake County Authorfest to host THE BLACKENING OF FLESH book signing

Pick up a signed copy of THE BLACKENING OF FLESH at the 2nd annual Lake County Authorfest in Round Lake Beach on Saturday, August 5th. In THE BLACKENING OF FLESH, Jared Dix graduates high school to find out his suburban Chicago home is haunted by five Prohibition-Era gangsters, and with the event taking place in the heart of the Lake County suburbs, a return visit seemed like a natural fit.

The past won’t stay buried.

I signed copies of my books at the 1st annual Lake County Authorfest last summer, too, but this year’s event sponsored by This Old Book in Grayslake promises to be bigger and better than ever, with a raffle, a scavenger hunt, live music by The Gardiner Jazz Combo, children’s book readings, free face paintings for the kids, and a chance to participate in a community art project hosted by the Grayslake Art Alliance.

This year’s event will also feature a youth creative writing contest with children writing for one of three age categories: 4 to 8, 9 to 12, and 13 to 18. Pieces should be no more than 2,000 words and can be on any subject. Three finalists will be chosen from each age category and featured at a special booth at Authorfest on August 5th. Winners from each category will win a $50 gift certificate to This Old Book in Grayslake and an Authorfest goodie bag. Click here to submit. The deadline to enter is July 24th.

The 2nd annual Lake County Authorfest will take place at the Round Lake Beach Civic Center at 2007 Civic Center Way (behind Meijer) on Saturday, August 5th, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Admission is free, and a portion of the proceeds go to support the proposed Ray Bradbury Museum in Waukegan, Illinois, so drop a few bucks, pick up a new read or two from one of the more than 35 participating authors, and support a great cause.

Christian A. Larsen is the author of the novels LOSING TOUCH and THE BLACKENING OF FLESHnow available from Post Mortem Press.
